Staff of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly on Thursday joined dignitaries in the Municipality to commission the J. O Lindsay Emergency Block for the Achimota Government Hospital. The Twenty-bed facility built by the Corporate Social Wing of J. L Properties is expected to serve the medical needs of the people in the Municipality. The $4 million Facility with separate male, female and children wards is fully equipped with 1,400 surgical gowns. It also has three oxygen concentrators as well as 25 boxes of protection equipments and nine UV trolleys. Speaking at the commissioning, Dr. James Orleans- Lindsay Chairman of JL Properties said the construction of the block is his contribution to the development of the health care delivery in the Municipality. He said It is important for individuals to give back to the community where success found them. Dr. Lindsay was hopeful their gesture will inspire other businesses in the locality to emulate to contribute their quota in augmenting government’s efforts in driving growth and development.He urged the management of the hospital to adopt an efficient and effective management culture In order to prolong the life of the facility. Dr. David Okoe former Superintendent of the hospital assured that the hospital will be used for its intended purpose. He said the former hospital lacked the requisite equipment in addition to the lack of separate words for both sexes and children thus making the delivery of healthcare difficult. Dr. Okoe noted that the facility will serve a wonderful purpose and was hopeful it will increase the number of emergency cases the hospital takes. Stephen Pambiin Jalulah, the Deputy. Roads Minister in a message on behalf of the Minister said roads in the Achimota Hospital will be considered for face-lift. He said it was crucial that the government cannot develop the whole nation and that private bodies had a role to play in that regard. Mr. Rexford Frimpong, the Personal Assistant to the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Boye Laryea led a delegation to the event which was also attended by Chiefs and staff of the hospital.
