The Management of Okaikwe North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has organized a two-day Records Management Training Programme at the assembly premises for some selected departments of the Assembly to help improve the Records Management System of the Assembly.
The Coordinating Director of Okaikwe North Municipal Assembly (ONMA), Mr. Samuel Amoah explained that the training is aimed at not only improving the records management system of the assembly but also to explain the importance and relevance of keeping records.
The training programme was organized for selected departments of the assembly such as Human Resource, Finance, Health (Environmental), Agriculture, Physical planning, Social Welfare and Community Development, works, Disaster prevention, Urban roads and Central Administration.
The facilitators of the programme were officials from the Public Records and Archives Administration Department-(PRAAD) namely Emmanuel K. Edzeame, SRO, the Head of Training and Research Division, PRAAD and Mr. Godwin K. M. Ayekple, SRO, Head of National Records Centre, PRAAD.
The programme covered most essential areas that will help improve records keeping system in the Assembly. Some of these areas include: Registration, Overview of Records Management, Handling correspondences, Classification of files / Records, File Management, Managing Semi-Current Records and Records Maintenance and Security.
