Christian Home Academy Wins 2026 Smart Governance Inter-Schools Quiz

Christian Home Academy has emerged victorious in the first 2026 edition of the Smart Governance Inter-Schools Quiz, organized by the Okaikwei North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
The students of Christian Home Academy outperformed competitors from St. Thomas Preparatory School, Danboi Basic School, and Jeddah Islamic School in a four-round contest that tested knowledge of the 1992 Constitution, general knowledge, true-or-false questions, and riddles.

The winner received a trophy, medals, certificates, and other prizes.
Honourable Christian Tetteh Badger, Chief Executive of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, highlighted the significance of the event in his address.
He noted that the quiz aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, which emphasizes a change in mindset and civic responsibility.

He urged students to take a leading role in tackling challenges such as the indiscriminate dumping of refuse, which burdens the municipality and necessitates costly desilting of choked gutters.
“The time has come for a paradigm shift and new thinking in Ghana. We owe the country a responsibility to succeed, and it starts with us,” he said.

Mrs. Vivienne Achel, Okaikwei North Municipal Director of the NCCE, explained that this year’s theme, “Empowering the Minds of the Ghanaian Child through Civic Education”, underscores the importance of equipping children with the knowledge, values, and skills needed to become active and responsible citizens.
She added that civic education in Ghana has reached all sixteen administrative regions, covering every district and municipal assembly.

Mrs. Achel emphasized that the quiz is not merely a test of brilliance, but a platform to help basic school students familiarize themselves with the 1992 Constitution and current affairs.
She also highlighted the role of the younger generation in correcting past mistakes, combating corruption, and upholding the nation’s core values.
Mrs. Gloria Kudo, Deputy Regional Director of NCCE, noted that understanding the constitution is vital for students to assert and defend their rights.

“We want to ensure that the Fourth Republican Constitution remains forever. Governments will come and go, but it will take you and me to defend it for it to endure,” she said.
Madam Georgina Akambasi, Municipal Culture and Tourism Officer, encouraged students to use both their mother tongue and English, noting that bilingual proficiency would serve them well in the future.
The event was attended by head teachers, NCCE club patrons, and staff of the Okaikwei North Municipal NCCE.
