Fighting COVID-19: ONMA Distributes Sanitizers, Nose Masks

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) in Accra has begun the distribution of sanitizers and reusable nose masks to some identifiable groups and institutions within the Municipality.

The gesture is to augment government’s efforts at stemming the further spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

Handing over the items to Ms Rejoice Blebu, Head of Administration of the Achimota Hospital, Hon Boye Laryea, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the presentation was crucial in view of the time the country finds itself in currently.

He said the donation is to assist the health facility to take care of its patients in this covid season.

Receiving the twenty boxes of sanitizers and three hundred pieces of reusable nose masks, Ms Blebu while expressing gratitude for the donation said that the items will go a long way to help in the operation of the hospital.

Other institutions received ten boxes of sanitizers and three hundred pieces of reusable nose masks each.

These are the Office of the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu; Lapaz Community Clinic, Kisseman; Abeka Chief’s Palace; Akweteyman Chief’s Palace and Achimota Chief’s Palace.

Traders at the Kisseman Market received ten boxes of hand sanitizers and one thousand two hundred (1,200) reusable nose masks.

In addition, the MCE has ordered for the provision of four Veronica Bucket stands and two Veronica Buckets for the market in its quest to further boost the fight of the disease in the Municipality.

Other beneficiaries of the exercise are the Abeka, Nii Boi and Akweteyman Markets.

At the markets, Mr Laryea urged the market women who have care givers to leave their children with them at home and desist from bringing them to the market to avoid them contracting the virus as most kids cannot wear nose masks.
