The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Christiaan Tetteh Badger, has hinted of plans to construct a Senior High School in the Okaikwei Central Constituency.
The school, when completed, he indicated is expected to ease the pressure on Achimota Secondary School.
According to Honourable Badger, the Secondary School would also serve the academic needs of students in the Municipality who commute to other Municipalities to access Secondary education.
The Okaikwei North MCE dropped the hint during a courtesy call on the Achimota, Akweteman and Abeka Chiefs in Accra.
Honourable Badger further disclosed plans to form a Municipal Traditional Council to deepen the collaboration between the Assembly and traditional authorities, stressing that the Ministry of Local Government now includes Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs — a development that calls for closer engagement with chiefs.
Honourable Badger said Chiefs were central to the development of the Municipality hence the reason to engage with them.
Under his leadership, Hon. Badger promised a robust administration focused on education, sanitation, infrastructural development, youth employment among others.
He pledged to reverse the current trend where people parked cars indiscriminately on the shoulders of the road to inconvenience other road users in the Municipality.
The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive urged the residents to pay their property rates anf acquire the necessary building permits before embarking on any project.
This Honourable Badger explained would help the Assembly to raise the necessary funds for development.
The Chiefs-Nii Ayibontey Adams III, Chief of Achimota, Nii Boi IV, Abeka Mantse and Nii Adotei I, the Principal Kingmaker of Akweteyman in serperate speeches urged Honourable Badger to tackle the issues of youth unemployment, education and spearhead the development of the Municipality.
The Chiefs variously tasked the Okaikwei North MCE to prioritise the development of the Municipality and pledged their continuous support to Hon. Badger’s administration as he begins his tenure in office.
The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive presented drinks, water and an undisclosed amount of money to the chiefs.
Accompanying the MCE were the Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Francis Mensah,
The other were the Municipal Culture and Tourism Officer, Madam Georgina Akambasi, Mrs Akorfa Adu-Gamadeku, the Municipal Finance Officer (MFO) Assembly Members, and others staff of the Assembly
