HON. BOYE LARYEA URGED PARENTS TO IMMUNIZE THEIR CHILDREN AGAINST POLIO DISEASE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has said children are very important in the whole world therefore it is necessary to immunized them against polio diseases.
The MCE was speaking at the launching of the National Poliomyelitis Immunization Day, today 10th September 2020 at Abeka Manste Agbona.
Dignitaries present at the launch were Municipal Chief Executive hon. Boye Laryea, MCE Personal Assistant Mr. Rexford Frimpong, Medical supt. Achimota Hospital Dr. Salamatu Nantongma, Municipal Health Director Dr. Nana Ama Agyabeng, Polio Vaccinators and staff of Achimota Hospital.
The vaccination will protect children under 5 years of age. the first round start from 10th – 13th September 2020 and the 2nd round will begin from 8th – 11 October 2020

At the launch hon. Laryea said: “We must take very good care of our children so that this polio disease will not occur in their life at all. This immunization that we are starting, it is our responsibility as a nation, as a parent to take care of the child so that the child will grow well”.
According to the MCE: “This immunization is not a new thing to parents, back in the days we go to hospitals before we can get our children immunized, now what we have done is that we are coming to your homes to immunized your children”.
He stressed that: “The immunization is part of our agenda and every year we will immunized our children against polio so that every child will be free from polio. we will not wait for us to report a case before we go to hospital, we have decided to immunized our children early to polio.
Children from age 0 – 5 years will be immunized and we are not taking money from any one it is free.
I will plead with you to open your doors for the vaccinators when they come to immunize your children, this will benefit us all”.
He added that “it is very important for the nation to do immunization, so we are pleading with you to inform every one about this polio immunization welcome the vaccinators so that they will do a good job.
