Traders at Kisseman, a suburb of Okaikoi North Municipality in Accra recently heaved a huge sigh of relief when a newly built modern market was inaugurated for them.
Prior to the construction of the market, which took relatively shorter time, the bulk of the traders were exposed to the vagaries of the weather which posed much inconvenience to their safety.
The 42-shed market which is fitted with LCD TV, radios and modern ancillary components is the first phase of the project with the second phase to be completed in December 2020.
In his inaugural address, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Boye Laryea said his foremost ambition upon appointment to take up the office was to primarily serve the people and justify his appointment for the sake of development.
He said in the early days of his assumption of office, he paid a working visit to the market which was then in a deplorable state.
According to him, he conferred with the traditional leaders and market executives on his intention to undertake the project to salvage the traders from the elements who gave him the go ahead but not without a sense of doubt.
“Today, the market is ready for use and the traders would be moved from the street,” he said.
He thanked the traders for their patience with the completion of the project.
On his part, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Fuseini Issah said the edifice they were witnessing was the gains derived from voting for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in 2016.
He therefore urged the beneficiaries to the project to renew the mandate of the NPP to continue the good work adding more goodies were forthcoming.
According to him, his core vision was to advance education and particularly teaching in the municipality.
In the last four years, he said he has assisted many children to complete their basic education adding, this certainly opens the door for many children to access Free Senior High School which creates an opportunity for many professional scholars to be produced in the area.
Apart from the project, he said an ultramodern kitchen is being built at Achimota Hospital, an AstroTurf at Abofu, roads being constructed at Nii Boi town and school blocks at Alogboshie.
Hon.Issah prevailed on the people to renew his mandate and the President to continue to bring development to them.
