An eight-member delegation of Administrative Staff from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Mr. John Nana Owu, in a heartfelt farewell visit to honour his years of exemplary leadership and dedicated service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit, marked by warmth, appreciation and nostalgia, was to bid farewell to Mr. Owu, who was transferred from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, and to express gratitude for the mentorship and leadership he provided during his tenure at Tema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the delegation, Mr. Owu expressed surprise and gratitude at the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of genuine love and appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In a few months, I will also retire from active service, but I am surprised to see all of you here today. Life goes beyond retirement; it is not the physical structure you are in that defines you,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged public servants to remain committed to serving humanity, stressing that true leadership is measured by one’s willingness to solve problems and support others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are each other’s keeper. Life comes with challenges, but always have the heart to help humanity. If you possess knowledge and fail to use it to solve problems, then you are failing as a leader,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Owu thanked the delegation for the visit, noting that the thought behind the gesture meant more than any gift they presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even though physically I may not always be with you, I will be with you in spirit. God bless you all for coming. Sometimes it is not about the items but the heart behind them. I shall forever remain eternally grateful for the love you have shown me,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the ceremony, the delegation presented Mr. Owu with a framed citation in recognition of his distinguished service which read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Your leadership was not just seen, it was felt. Your service was not just rendered, it was impactful. You left behind a legacy that will inspire and continue to guide us. We are forever grateful.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Deputy Director, Ms. Mawunyo Amenyewu, thanked Mr. Owu for the invaluable knowledge and guidance he imparted during his years at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said the Administrative Staff had deeply missed his impactful leadership since his transfer and explained that the visit was intended to express their appreciation for his immense contribution to the growth of the Assembly and the professional development of its staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also speaking, the Deputy Director of Administration at the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Mr. Salifu Seidu, described Mr. Owu as “an institution” whose wealth of knowledge and ability to translate theory into practical solutions have made him an invaluable asset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mr. Owu is an institution. The body of knowledge he possesses and the practicality with which he applies it make him an asset to every Assembly he serves,” Mr. Seidu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further described the Municipal Coordinating Director as a result-oriented leader who consistently focused on solving problems rather than lamenting over them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We appreciate him and pray that God grants him good health and long life so that he will continue to impact the knowledge and experience he has acquired over the years. Let the knowledge you have tapped from him remain with you throughout your careers,” he urged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
