KISSEMAN: OKAKWEI NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY CUTS SOD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW MARKET

The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Boye Laryea has cut sod for the construction of a new market at Kisseman, a suburb of Achimota.

The sod cutting ceremony took place on 1st July, 2019. Officials present were the Okaikwei North Member of Parliament Hon. Fuseini Issah, Presiding Member of the Assembly Abdulai Nii Odai, Madam Christine Amuzu Sofrenyo Achimota School District Commander, Chief of Kisseman and some members of staff from the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.

In his speech, the Director of the Assembly Mr. Samuel Amoah said, the purpose of the gathering is to continue with the agenda that was started some time ago. It was agreed about a month ago by the Assembly and the traders of Kisseman to reconstruct the market. This assurance was given by the MCE. He added therefore that, the words of the MCE is being followed with action.

Hon. Boye Laryea in his address told the gathering that, the Assembly is looking forward for the project to be executed within four months. He pleaded with traders to exercise patience for the project to be completed and further promised that, as soon as the market is ready, it will be made available for them to occupy.

He advised the people to corporate and assist the contractor complete the project on scheduled. He stated emphatically that building materials belonging to the contractor should not be taken way. Those in the habit of doing that should desist from it else the Assembly will make sure the police are here at all times. If it’s deemed necessary, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) will be involved.

According to Hon. Boye Laryea, the Assembly and the contractor should be given the maximum respect so that the market can be completed in peace.

He disclosed that the Company contracted to execute the project is Messers Skylynx Haven Investment Limited. He added that the project is valued at GH¢364,284.20p and the source of funding is from the Common Fund which was given to the Assembly by the government of Ghana for the construction of a new market.
