The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Okaikwei North, Honourable Boye Laryea has urged Ghanaians to push back the threats to the country’s democracy.
According to him, the people have a sacred duty to defend Ghana’s freedom from all forms of attacks because it defines our destiny.
Speaking at a parade to commemorate the 65th Independence Celebration in Accra, Hon. Laryea insisted that Ghana’s democracy has been the best option to maintain national stability, peace and good governance and that “we must all endeavor to work together and push back the threats against our democratic rule in order to bounce back better.”
Touching on the theme: “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better”, the Okaikwei North MCE noted that there could not have been any better theme than this in view of the social and global happenings around us.
Mr. Laryea urged the citizens to pay their taxes and levies without which there would be no developments adding “It is these taxes and levies that makes it possible for the government to pay the salaries of nurses, teachers and the police among others. So, as we continue paying these taxes, we bounce back together and better.”
The Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Cynthia Aboni said there is no doubt about the fact that the nation’s quest to develop, and remain truly independent, and progress exponentially basically depends on Education.
She said education generally equips learners with the necessary tools, unique ideas and stimulate their curiosity and provides learners with the opportunities for personal development and enrichment and also better future careers.
Mrs. Aboni explained that as a Directorate, its vision and mission is to ensure that all children of school-going age are provided with quality education and training through effective and efficient management of resources and to make education delivery relevant to the manpower needs of the nation.
Mrs. Theresa Lardi Awuni, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency called for unity among Ghanaians in order to push the developmental.
At the parade were traditional rulers and some Five Hundred and six (506) students and learners from Eighteen (19) Public and Private Basic & Second Cycle Schools as well as Officers and Teachers from the Municipal Education Office and Schools in and around the Municipality.
The Civilian Contingents present were: Achimota School: Halid Bun Walid Islamic Basic; Sackey Odoi Basic School; Mizpah International School; Rene Educational Center; Danboi JHS; Shiayennoh JHS; Abofu Presby Basic School; Victory Jill Academy and Abeka Cluster of Schools.
Also at the parade were the; Achimota Basic School Red Cross; Achimota Basic School Girls Guide; Achimota Senior High School Band; Asiamah School Band with cadet contingents from five schools including; the Achimota School; Nii Boi Town SDA School and Tesano School.
The civilian category for the awards includes, 1st Rene Educational Central, 2nd Mizpah International, 3rd Victory Jil Academy and the Cardet Category includes, 1st Achimota Senior High School, 2nd Living God School, and 3rd Frus Academy.
