The Abeka Magistrate Court in the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has fined Alhaji Dramani Nuhu GHS360.00 for improper disposal of waste water.
This happened on the 24th of April, 2019 at Akweteman within the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.
The case between the Republic versus Alhaji Dramani Nuhu was called on the 2nd July, 2019 at exactly10.30 a.m.
The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly’s prosecutor Madam Delight Dzansi addressed the court and she explained: “During our usual routine inspections, we noticed waste water spilling onto public pathway causing nuisance to the public.”
“We served the accused a notice to fix it which was not done so I proceeded by serving Alhaji Dramani Nuhu with a summo on 24th June, 2019 to appear before court accusing him of improper disposal of waste water contrary to section 5655 a & b of Act 851, Public Health Act 2012.” Madam Dzansi stated.
The accused Alhaji Dramani Nuhu said: “I repaired the broken wall causing the spillage but I didn’t know I was to report to the Assembly after fixing it. I was later served with a summon in relation to that.”
The Abeka Magistrate Court upon hearing the case, fined the accused person Ghc 360.00 (30 penalty units) when he pleaded guilty.
He was therefore advised to be a good citizen by keeping the environment clean and help the Assembly achieve its goals .
