Ten women in the Okaikwei North Municipality have ended a two-day capability building training workshop in Shito and tomatoes Ketchup production.
The beneficiaries, drawn from Apenkwa, Nii Boiman, Akweteman and Lapaz are expected to convert the knowledge acquired from the training to local income generating venture in the municipality.
They were trained in theory and hands on recipes.
In December 2023, five other women in the Municipality benefited from a similar training programme.
The training was facilitated by the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research/ Food Research Institute with funding from the Canadian government through Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG).
The training programme is part of the planned and budgeted training of the Agric Department of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.
In a lecture, Mr. Philip Baidoo, the Head of Customer Service stated that it is important for the beneficiaries to register their products with the Food Drugs Authority, stressing that the product must not be easily contaminated.
He tasked the trainees to provide information about their products including name of company, address, contact, product description, expiry dates, batch number among others.
Mr. Lartey Brown also lectured the participants on Business Management Practices.
The Participants appreciated the privilege from the Agricultural Department.
Mrs. Beatrix Quarshie-Brown, the Municipal Director of Agric advised the participants to take the training seriously and start implementing the knowledge acquired from the training.
