Okaikwei North Assembly Elect Chairmen for Achimota, Abeka Zonal Councils

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has elected the Chairmen for its Abeka and Achimota Zonal Councils.

Hon. Omar A. M. Yaro, the Assemblyman for Blema-Gor Electoral Area in the Okaikwei North Municipality won the Chairmanship slot for the Abeka Zonal Council.

He polled all 11 votes cast.

Hon. Gyebi Ababio the Assemblyman for the Achimota Electoral Area won the Chairmanship for the Achimota Zonal Council.

His competitor, Hon. Daniel Dzadey withdrew from the contest on the day of the polls paving the way for Hon. Ababio to win the seat by 12 votes.

In a speech, Hon. Yaro promised to work hard to help build the Assembly at the grassroot level to enhance the participation of the ordinary people in the decision-making process.

He stated that his election to the office is the beginning of an ultimate call to serve the Assembly even better than “we have done in the past; it’s an opportunity to a higher call to duty.”

Hon. Yaro assured that he would do his best for the Council and never relent to work in the interest of the Assembly, the Municipality and the country at large.

Hon. Ababio in a separate speech among other things urged all staff to work together in order to achieve the goals and visions set for the Council.
