Okaikwei North Assembly Hands Over Project Sites for DACF, Legacy Projects

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has handed over sites for three major infrastructure projects to contractors, marking the commencement of the second phase of projects under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
The projects under this phase include the completion of a three-storey office complex (Phase Two) for the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, the completion of a two-storey Clinic at Christian Village and the painting and general face-lifting works at the Achimota Hospital.

The event also saw the official handing over of the Christian Village Clinic, community’s entry roads.
The ceremony underscored the Assembly’s commitment to infrastructure development, improved healthcare delivery, and enhanced administrative efficiency within the Municipality.
Speaking at the ceremony in Accra on Monday January 26, 2026, The Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei North Constituency, Mrs. Theresa Lardi Awuni, urged the contractors to deliver value for money and prioritize the employment of local artisans.

She stressed that the community had all the skilled labour required to execute the projects efficiently and encouraged contractors to complete the works on schedule in line with the President’s Reset Agenda.
She further cautioned that the contracts would not be extended, emphasizing the Assembly’s resolve to treat the projects with the seriousness they deserve.
Mr. Jamil Akana, the Managing Director of Build Way Construction Limited, assured the Assembly and residents of the quality and timely execution of the project.

He pledged to work diligently and complete the works within the stipulated timeframe.
The Assembly Member for the area and Presiding Member of the Assembly Hon. Daniel Dzadey, expressed satisfaction with the award of the contracts, describing the development as historic for Christian Village.
He noted that for the first time, the community would receive its fair share of national development projects.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, assured that the Assembly would closely monitor all the projects to ensure they are completed on time and to the required standards.

Mr. Mohammed Anas, Managing Director of Mamanjia Limited and contractor for the Christian Village Clinic, highlighted the importance of the health facility, assuring stakeholders of quality workmanship.
“This is a health facility, and its timely completion is very important. I will ensure quality work is delivered,” he stated.
The Municipal Health Director, Dr. Nafisa Alhassan, described the clinic as critical to healthcare delivery in the Municipality.

She noted that the timely completion of the facility would ease pressure on existing health facilities and serve a population of over 178,000 residents.
She added that the dominance of private health facilities in the Municipality has made the full implementation of government health policies challenging.

As part of the works at Achimota Hospital, fourteen units of the facility will undergo face-lifting, with the project expected to be completed within six months.
The hospital will also see the construction of a Wellness Clinic.
Dr. Jacqueline Anita Sowah, the Medical Superintendent of Achimota Hospital, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the project aligns perfectly with the hospital’s upcoming centenary celebration.

“In 2027, Achimota Hospital will be 100 years old. This project is timely and forms a significant part of our centenary celebrations,” she said.
The three-storey office complex for the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly to be undertaken by the contractor, Perfect Wood Designs and Construction Limited is expected to be completed within six months.
Present at the ceremony were Mr. Francis K. Mensah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Works Engineer, the Municipal Roads Engineer, Assembly Members and staff of the Assembly.
