The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Honourable Boye Laryea on Thursday led a delegation to commensurate with the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
This follows the death of Hajia Rahmatu Tahwee Sheikh Sharubutu, the wife of the National Chief Imam on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Leading the delegation, Honourable Laryea offered prayers for the National Chief Imam and his family, asking Allah to grant Hajia Ramatu Jannatul Firdaus and to provide comfort and strength to the Chief Imam during their time of mourning.
The Okaikwei North MCE emphasised the importance of unity, solidarity, and compassion in supporting the Chief Imam and his family during this difficult period.
He assured the family of the Assembly’s continuous prayers adding that the Chief Imam has made an enviable impact in his position as the National Chief Imam.
Honourable Laryea on behalf of the Assembly donated an undisclosed amount of money to Dr. Nuhu Sharubutu and packs of bottled water.
Speaking through an interpreter, the National Chief Imam commended Honourable Laryea and the Assembly for coming to commiserate with him and thanked the delegation for the donation stressing that the gesture is in keeping with the tradition of the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W).
He explained that it is incumbent that when one lost a relative, “someone must come and soothe you.”
“It is Allah who gives and takes, this one is what Allah has ordained for everyone…I am grateful to you, may Allah order all your endeavors and give you good health…” the National Chief Imam stated.
Touching on national unity and cohesion ahead of the December general elections, Dr. Nuhu Sharubutu stated that Allah has blessed Ghana with religious peace and harmony.
He stated that “Muslims and Christians and even others who do not share these two faiths are able to sit at the same table; this Allah has not bestowed on other nations but God has done that for us.”
Dr. Nuhu Sharubutu noted that Allah would only bless the country if its people are grateful to Allah for all the good things, He has bestowed on us.
“This election, may we do it in peace, we should not spill blood because of elections, Allah does not want us to do this…” he maintained.
The final funeral rites for Hajia Rahmatu Sheikh Sharubutu is expected to be held on May 5, 2024.
Other members in the MCE’s entourage were Mr. Francis Mensah, Mrs. Akorfa Adu-Gamadeku the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Osman Mohammed, the Internal Auditor, the Head of Society, WO1 Alexander Yeboah among others.
