The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has urged staff of the Assembly to work hand in hand to improve upon its service delivery and fulfil its obligations to the public.
According to Honourable Boye Laryea, it is only through this that rebranding ONMA to become the Model Municipality in Excellence could be achieved.
“I will also encourage us to join hands, together we can achieve this dignified vision and bring development and growth to our Assembly and its people” he said.
The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly MCE made the appeal during his Sessional Address to the General Assembly at its new office complex at Achimota in Accra on Monday.
Honourable Laryea tasked the new Assembly members to close their ranks and work together for the good of the Assembly.
“I also on behalf of the Assembly applaud former Assembly Members for their effective and efficient contribution to the course of the Assembly although they could not make it again to this House to continue with what we started years ago. I hope and pray that their successors would continue from wherever they left off.”
He continued: “On the other hand, I expect same commitment, dedication and loyalty, from the new Assembly Members who are presently in charge of their respective Electoral Areas in which these uncompleted projects are located to fully support devoid of politics. Our people deserve better than the usual partisan politics that often derails our development agenda, the ordinary citizens are affected by these partisan acts.”
The Presiding Member, Honourable Nii Odai Abdullah in an address reminded the Assembly Members of their duty of taking important decisions that would shape the future of the community adding “I therefore urge you all to approach our deliberations with openness, respect and a commitment to common good.”
Honourable Abdullah tasked the Assembly Members to assist in the sensitization of residents to settle rate fees and others to improve the revenue base of the Assembly in order to help complete developmental projects in the communities.
Touching on the December 7 2024, general elections, the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly Presiding Member advised the Assembly Members to work as a team devoid of serious political wrangling which could generate tension among residents in the various electoral areas.
