OKAIKWEI NORTH MCE CUTS SOD FOR ACHIMOTA-KORPEVI CULVERT

The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Boye Laryea has cut sod for the construction of Culvert at Korpevi in Achimota.

The three by four (3×4) Meter Box Cell culvert will ease road traffic in Korpevi- Achimota.

The Sod Cutting ceremony was at the Presby Church on 16th April, 2019.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly stated that: “The assembly will bring change to Korpevi, we will call on the chiefs and the people to join hands so that we will develop the country.”

He added that: “The project which is valued at Four Hundred and Ninety Five Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Seven Ghana Cedis and Eighty Three Pesewas Gh₵495,747.83 is estimated to be completed within six months. The source of funding for the project is from the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).”

According to Honorable Boye Laryea: “Completion of the project is expected to ease traffic on the main Achimota road and the Korpevi township. It would also solve the perennial flooding of the community and attendant loss of lives. The project would further provide direct and indirect employment to resident and generally boost economic activity in the area.”

He continued that “the construction of the turnel will be of immense help to the community at large. He stated that more developmental projects are on the Assembly’s budget. He pleaded to the Chiefs and elders of Achimota and Akweteyman to support them with the necessary infrastructural development in the community.”

The Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei North, Hon. Issah Fuseni also said the development of the community is paramount to him and pleaded to those whose properties would be affected due to the construction to exercise patience.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Ishmael Ashitey and his Deputy Hon. Elizabeth Sackey thanked the chiefs and elders for accepting and embracing this development.

He was hopeful that, the project is the beginning of the fulfillment of a dream.

The MCE together with the Greater Accra Minister and his Deputy, finally joined hands to cut the sod for the construction of the culvert.
