The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) will not tolerate squatters who sleep anywhere to litter and defecate all over the place. For this reason, the Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) and it’s Task Force arrested 15 people for sleeping at unauthorized places within the Municipality precisely Achimota.
The fifteen were picked up on the 2nd June, 2019 at two locations, that is, around Achimota Overhead and Achimota Old Station.
The culprits have turned the two locations into their sleeping place. The situation at night makes the places within the municipality unattractive.
Three of them were arrested and sent to the Tesano Police Station and the remaining twelve were sent to Achimota Police Station.
They were all released from their various cells the following day, 3rd June, 2019.
Twelve were sent to weed around the Achimota CP roundabout and the other three sent to weed the forecourt of the Achimota Police Station as a punishment to ward them off from committing such offences and also to serve as deterrent to others.
Again, it is observed that sanitation conditions in Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly have improved tremendously within the last few months as a result of the weekly cleanup activities by the Assembly.
