OKAIKWEI NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY: CLEAN-UP EXERCISE AT ABOFU AND AKWETEYMAN.

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) embarks on weekly cleanup exercise to keep the municipality clean. This routine exercise has become a key focus of the Assembly.

Recently, the Assembly organized another cleanup exercise on Saturday 20th of July, 2019 at Akweteyman and Abofu both suburbs of Achimota.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO), Madam Josephine Gawu and two other sanitation officers Mr. Charles Otoo and Mr. Douglas Domson joined hands with the municipal’s taskforce and other officers from various departments of the Assembly in the cleanup exercise.

The team was divided into two groups. The first was stationed at Abofu along the N1 road. They weeded the grass on the middle of the road from Alubond junction to the Abofu overpass.

The second team was also stationed at Akweteyman along the N1 highway. They swept both sides of the street on the outer lane, collected sand and rubbish.

Madam Josephine Gawu said: “the Assembly is doing everything possible to rid the municipality off filth by organizing frequent clean-up exercises.”

She stated: “Anyone caught littering around or violating the sanitation laws of the state especially within the municipality would be arrested and arraigned before court.”
