Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has embarked on routine weekly clean – up exercise within the municipality.
Keeping the municipality clean has become a key agenda within the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.
The Assembly organized another clean-up exercise on Saturday 20th of July, 2019 at Akweteyman and Abofu both suburbs of Achimota.
The Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO), Madam Josephine Gawu and two other sanitation officers Mr. Charles Otoo and Mr. Douglas Domson joined hands with the municipal’s taskforce and other officers from various departments of the Assembly in the clean -up exercise.
The team was divided into two groups. The first was stationed at Akweteyman along the N1 highway. They swept both sides of the street on the outer lane, collected sand and rubbish.
The second team was also stationed at Abofu along the N1 road. They weeded the grass on the middle of the road from Alubond junction to the Abofu overpass.
Madam Josephine Gawu said: “the Assembly is doing everything possible to rid the municipality off filth by organizing frequent clean-up exercises”.
She stated that: “Anyone caught littering around or violating the sanitation laws of the state especially within the municipality would be arrested and arraigned before court”.
