Okaikwei North Municipality Gets Achimota Zonal Council

The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Hon. Boye Laryea has inaugurated the Abeka Zonal Council with a call on members to work in unity.

He said it is only through unity that the collective goals and objectives of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly could be achieved.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Council in Accra on Wednesday, Hon. Laryea charged the members to work diligently to the best of their abilities in the realization of the Assembly’s mission and vision.

“It is only through our collective efforts that we can achieve the objectives that we have set for ourselves, I entreat all to work in unity for the progress of Okaikwei North Municipality” he said.

The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive disclosed that a capability building training programmer would be organized to sharpen the skills of the Council members.

“In the due course, an in-house training would be organized to equip members with the necessary knowledge and logistics to effectively run the Council”

Hon. Laryea further stated that since the establishment of the Municipal Assembly in 2018, it had been carefully planning adequately towards office accommodation, logistics and monetary structuring in ensuring that full operationalization of the Zonal Council.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Benjamin Armah reminded the Council of the mandate that lies ahead of them.

He urged them to perform their duties diligently to benefit the Assembly and the people in the Municipality at large.

The Achimota Zonal Council has a staff strength of twenty-five members comprising members from the various departments of the Assembly.

The Council is to mobilize revenue, implement policies at the local level and to mobilize the community to participation in decision making process.

The Council is also to ensure grassroots participation in the decentralization process.
