OKAIKWEI NORTH: TWO CHARGED FOR DISPOSING WASTE INTO PUBLIC DRAINAGE

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly District Court has charged two persons for discharging affluent into public drain.
The two, Elizabeth Aboagye land lady and Frank Ebo Rockson a contractor was charged under section 56 s5 a and b of the Act 851, Public Health Act 2012”.
Count 1, Elizabeth Aboagye: “discharging affluent that is, septic tank content into public drain contrary to section 56 s5 a and b of Act 851, Public Health Act 2012”.
Count 2, Frank Ebo Rockson: “discharging affluent that is, septic tank content into public drain contrary to section 56 s5 a and b of Act 851, Public Health Act201”.
According to the court: “on the 18th august 2020, a community member lodged a complaint at the Municipal Environmental Health Department about a nieghbour discharging affluent into public drain polluting the environment with its odour”.
The court said: “Environmental Health officers followed up on the complaint and found frank Ebo Rockson who have fixed pumping machine in an inspection chamber which was discharging its content through a PVC into a public drain in front of Elizabeth Aboagye’s premises”.
The two appeared in court on the 19th August 2020 and pleaded not guilty, the case will continue on 10th September 2020.
