ONE STRUCTURE USED FOR SELLING “WEE” DEMOLISHED AT ABEKA

Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has embarked on a demolishing exercise at Abeka market within the Blemagor Electoral Area.

Nana Otiware, the Task Force Operations Commander of the assembly said he and his team together with the Assemblyman of Abeka Hon. Baba Yaro have demolished one kiosk used for selling “wee”.

The exercise took effect on the 20th June, 2019 at Abeka market, opposite the Abeka Mantse Palace.

According to Nana Otiware, the Assemblyman brought a report from residents to the Municipal Assembly.

He explained: “someone has placed a kiosk near the Market, opposite the Abeka Mantse palace selling illicit drugs to minors and other individual within the community”.

Nana Otiware said: “the Assembly had already served a two months notice to the owner of the kiosk to evacuate the place but he refused to adhere to the directive given, neither did he seek clarification from the Assembly”.

“They went to the venue on the 13th June, 2019 to demolish the structure but the owner of the kiosk  popularly called Jawula   he  also sells illicit drugs,  made his gang surround them which brought the demolishing to a halt”.

The Task Force Operations Commander, stated that: “his team and the Assemblyman informed the Municipal Coordinator Director who called ASP Ammaning, Commander of the Tesano Police Station and briefed him on issue.”

The Tesano Police Commander, made the demolishing team postpone the exercise because the task force was attacked by the gangs of the wee seller around the area.

“Thursday morning at exactly 10am, the demolishing team gathered at the venue of the said structure and  the police commander gave them a team of policemen to start with the exercise.”Nana Otiware added.

The Assemblyman  of Blemagor Electoral Area, Abeka Baba Yaro emphasized that: “Notices has been written and pasted to the various flash points that nobody should trade in selling or smoke wee there and  we gave him 4th April as  the deadline.

“He is doing the exercise in the capacity of an Assemblyman and he needs the help of the Municipal Assembly to do more.

“The parcel of land belongs to the Abeka Mantse Palace and a lot of demolishing will come on, for all the demolishing exercise is on drug trading and smoking flash points which some are structures and others are in an open space.”

“With these exercise, he needs more support from both the Police and the Community to carry out.” The Assemblyman added.

The Police has revealed that: “no casualties was recorded”.
