STOP DEFACING THE CITY WITH POSTERS – HON. BOYE LARYEA WARNS

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA), Hon. Boye Laryea has warned the general public to desist from defacing the city with posters at unauthorized places within the Assembly’s jurisdiction.

He gave the warning last Saturday, 26th January, 2019 after the Assembly had removed all unauthorized bills and posters from the walls of the Achimota New Over pass in Accra.

Speaking after the exercise, the Hon. MCE indicated that the Achimota New Overpass is the third in the series of overpasses and structures that the Assembly had removed posters from, to ensure the sanctity and beautification of the municipality and the city of Accra at large.

Already the Assembly had undertaken similar exercises at the CP round-about in Achimota and the Achimota Old Overpass where it was observed among others that, churches, corporate institutions and political parties were the worst culprits of that offence.

The MCE intimated that it is against municipal bye-laws to post bills at unauthorized places and that municipal guards would be stationed at relevant spots to ensure that offenders are arrested and  dealt with according to law.

He also reiterated the fact that as part of efforts to achieve the President’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa by the end 2020, the Assembly had plans to beautify all ceremonial streets within the Municipality to improve its aesthetic disposition.

The Assembly embarks on clean up exercises every Saturday to rid the Municipality of squalor and to further position it to attract investment in order to improve the socio-economic condition of the people in the municipality.
