The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly Taskforce has arrested two people at Akweteman a suburb of Achimota for open defecation.
The arrest was made on Wednesday 20th February, 2019 around 1:00am.
The two offenders were taken to the Tesano Police Station for their statements to be taken and arraigned before the District Magistrate court in the morning.
The two, Abdul Karim Mohammed and Edo Bosomprah appeared before the Motor and Sanitation Court at Abeka.
Edo Bosomprah opted not to appear in court rather paid the spot fine of five hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 500) charged by the Municipal Assembly.
The court was presided over by Her lordship Adwoa Acheampong. She charged Abdul Karim for indiscriminate defecation which he pleaded guilty and was fined GH600 for contravening section 56 SS a&b of Act 851, Public Health Act 2012 or in default six months imprisonment.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment at Nsawam since he could not pay the fine.
