The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly Hon. Boye Laryea at the commissioning of the playing ground at Achimota in Accra said the Achimota Hospital has been provided with one of the best playing grounds for children.
According to him, the construction of the playing ground is a collaborative effort between the Assembly and Mrs. Rita Asamoah a philanthropist.
He explained that, the playing ground for children will relief a lot of burden from parents when ever they visit the hospital. Parents will now have the freedom to interact with doctors without any disturbances from their children.
The ceremony was held at the Achimota Hospital on the 28th of June 2020. Dignitaries present were, MP for Okaikwei North Hon. Fuseni Issah, Dr. Salamatu Attah Nantogma (Medical Supt) Achimota Hospital and some staff members of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.
“Infact Mrs. Asamoh has really surprised the Assembly with her contribution to construct this beautiful playing ground for children. Indeed, she deserves to be appreciated for this kind gesture. The Assembly will ask for more playing grounds from Mrs. Asamoah for what we see here is a state of an art. This is a massive project and we thank Mrs. Asamoah for her contribution”, Hon. Laryea said.
The main idea behind this project was to provide a place for children to be kept while their parents (patients) are being attended to.
Dr. Salamatu Attah Nantogma (Medical Supt) Achimota Hospital said: “ The hospital is very grateful to the Assembly, now when children come to the hospital they will have a place to play, we look forward for more projects from the Assembly.”
Mrs. Asamoah expressed her gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for his immense support and assistance saying that “I have been to two hospitals just to help construct a playing ground but I had no response. When I went to see the MCE, he promised to give me a place for the construction of the playing ground, he did a lot for the construction of this playing ground. I, therefore, thank him and the Municipality.”
