The Management and Staff of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) have organized a sendoff ceremony for its retired Municipal Coordinating Director, (MCD) Mr. Benjamin A. Armah.
Mr. Armah bows out of Public Service after years of dedicated service in various capacities at several Assemblies in the country.
The outgoing MCD has worked at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, (AMA), Ga-South, Ningo-Prampram, Twifu Heman Lower Dankyira, Cape Coast Municipal Assembly and ONMA.
At the ceremony, staff of ONMA shared fond memories of Mr. Armah.
For the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Boye Laryea, Mr. Armah is just an extraordinary person.
“He is an extraordinary man, I can tell you that. This short period that I have been with him, I have leant a lot, we thank you so much, we can’t stop thanking you…”
“We have been having this kind of gathering but this is different, the previous ones were transfers but this one is extraordinary. This Director is not on transfer but rather going home to rest” Honorable Laryea added.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Honorable Abdullah Nii Odai recalled how he met Mr. Armah in 2006 at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the many impacts he has made in his life.
He stated “I have worked with him and he has thought me a lot, it’s so unfortunate that he came very late and he’s leaving us now; I know the kind of person he is, when the need arises he stands on his feet…”
The Municipal Finance Officer (MFO) Victoria Enim-Nyarko stated “Director due to his extensive experience has guided us to the right path, I have personally leant a lot of things from him. He has been so helpful to me and to all of us”.
She continued: “We will continue to come to you to tap your experience even though you are going on pension…continue to be with us, we will tap at your door anytime we need advice.”
Mrs. Cecilia Ofori-Asante, the Municipal Budget Analyst who said she has known Mr. Armah over the past twenty years could not agree more with the MFO.
“He’s a man who is very good, kind, it’s rather unfortunate that we could not have more time to stay with you here. He is always correcting us and putting us on the right path. In fact, we will miss him” she noted.
ONMA’s Municipal Budget Analyst further stated: “We wish him long life: We say thank you so much for being with ONMA. We are so grateful to you.”
Responding the outgoing MCD expressed gratitude to the staff and management of the Assembly for accepting and working with him.
Mr. Armah urged the Staff to accommodate each other in order to create a favourable working environment for all.
He assured ONMA that he will be available to assist when the need arises.
Earlier, Honourable Laryea presented a plaque to Mr. Armah on behalf of the Assembly.
It read: “As you retire, May you be proud of the work you have done. The person you are, and the difference you have made throughout the period you worked with us; You have not only been a co-worker and mentor, but a friend to many. As you start the next chapter of your life, know that you will be sorely missed”.
The staff of the Central Administration in another citation to him said “You made a remarkable impact on the Administrative ethos of ONMA for the few years that you came. You successfully raised the profile of ONMA and have worked hard to put systems in place to make things Function more efficiently than you came to meet in ONMA.”
The Citation further read: “Mr. Benjamin A. Armah, the most successful Coordinating Director, You have proved yourself as an effective Administrator, inspiring motivator and intelligent leader. You made us get the job done unobstructively and efficiently and communicated well with creative ideas through to completion. Others passed by but you came to get the job done.”
The Administrators noted: “You have set a fine example of reliability, dependability and commitment. You are a deserving, prestigious and successful Administrative officer and above all the Premus interpares among the Coordinating Directors who passed by ONMA. The Administrative officers of ONMA are Grateful to you. Thank You.”
