The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly Chief Executive, Honourable Christian Tetteh Badger, has called on teachers to instill in pupils the love for Ghana as he marked his maiden visits to basic schools specifically Kindergarten (KG) pupils on promotion to Primary One dubbed “My First Day at School”.
He noted that when teachers build the young ones with the new ideology to love Ghana and they are conscientized, they would tell their parents the good values they learn in school.
While applauding teachers for their dedication and describing them as key to building a strong human resource base for the nation, the Okaikwei North MCE added that “the future of this country depends on them, a good foundation builds a great human resource”.
Speaking at the tour of schools in the Municipality to mark the observation of “My First Day at School”, Honourable Badger encouraged pupils to study hard, respect authority, and adopt good moral values.
“Be good children so that you would grow to be good citizens like us. Do what your teachers tell you to do, obey your parents at home. Fear God and love each other. Don’t fight among yourselves and do not litter your classroom and your environment but put the rubbish in the dustbin,” he told the children.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Cynthia Aboni, who accompanied the team, explained that the items were provided by the Assembly to whip the interest of the children to perform well in school.
She urged the children to attend school regularly in order to continue receiving such support. She also advised them to maintain good hygiene by washing their hands with soap and water before eating and practice healthy living habits.
As part of the event, the KG children received packages made up of exercise books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, biscuits, and drinks to sustain their interest in education.
On behalf of the pupils, the, teachers variously expressed appreciation to the government, the MCE, and the Assembly for the support.
Schools visited included the Fadama Cluster of Schools, Nii Boi Town SDA, Immaculate Conception R/C Basic School, and the Apenkwa Cluster of Schools.
The MCE was accompanied by Mr. Francis Mensah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, staff of the Education Department, and some staff of the Assembly.
