The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has handed over sites for the construction of two major health infrastructure projects in the Municipality.
They are the construction of the Akweteyman CHPS Compound and an Ambulance Restroom Facility at Fadama both with Mechanised Borehole and overhead tanks.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the Akweteyman CHPS Compound site, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Christian Tetteh Badger, presented the contract documents to Yhouciepha Company Limited, the contractor responsible for executing the project.
Hon. Badger urged the contractor to prioritise the employment of residents within the community to ensure local participation and economic benefits during the construction process.
He emphasised that the project aligns with the vision of the President John Dramani Mahama to bring healthcare services closer to the people.
“The government’s policy is to ensure that every 500 metres, there is a health facility accessible to the people. This CHPS Compound is therefore a critical step towards achieving that vision,” he stated.
The MCE further charged the contractor to deliver quality work and complete the project within the stipulated time frame.
A representative of Yhouciepha Company Limited, Mr. Abubakari Isaka, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the opportunity and thanked the government for its support.
He assured the Assembly of the company’s commitment to executing the project to the highest standards.
The Assembly Member for the Akweteyman Electoral Area, Honourable Usman Mahmoud, pledged his full support to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
In a related development, the Assembly also handed over the site for the construction of an Ambulance Restroom Facility at Fadama to Conel Construction Enterprise Limited.
The Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Peter Bah Lano, disclosed that the contractors have six months to complete the project and are required to mount signage indicating the project details, including the source of funding and the name of the Assembly implementing the project.
Hon. Badger noted that the Municipal Ambulance Service currently lacks adequate space to operate an effective 24-hour service.
He explained that the Ambulance Restroom Facility is crucial to enabling staff to operate efficiently by providing a space for shift changes between night and day teams.
“This facility will strengthen the capacity of the Municipal Ambulance Service to deliver round-the-clock emergency services to residents,” he said.
Mr. Nicholas Gyimah, a representative of Conel Construction Enterprise Limited, thanked the Assembly and the government for the project and pledged to complete the facility on schedule while delivering quality work.
The event was attended by Honourable Assembly Members and staff of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly.
