The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North, Honourable Christian Tetteh Badger, has led a task team from the Assembly on a revenue mobilization exercise aimed at retrieving arrears owed by car dealers and businesses operating within the municipality.
The exercise, which took place across key business hubs in Apenkwa, Tesano, and Lapaz, focused on companies that have over the years defaulted in the payment of ground rent and Business Operating Permit (B.O.P) fees.
Some of the companies visited during the operation included: Star Oil (Lapaz), Wishful Way Ventures, Amiropa Motors, K&K Motors, DeGeorgia Motors & Spare Parts Limited and Sam Motors.
The others are Atabegro Motors, Alex’s Motors, Dependable Motors, Chatel Motors, Wasla Motors, Dbanka Motors, Richard Nana Donkor Motors, El-Wahab Transport Limited, and Kofco Car Centre.
According to the MCE, the exercise forms part of a broader strategy to improve internally generated funds (IGF) of the Assembly for the implementation of critical developmental projects in the municipality.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Badger emphasized the need for businesses to fulfill their statutory obligations to ensure the Assembly can deliver on its mandate.
“We are not here to harass any business, but to enforce compliance and remind all stakeholders of their civic responsibilities,” he stated.
Hon. Badger reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to deepening engagement with stakeholders and businesses to promote voluntary compliance and foster a more development-friendly business environment in Okaikwei North.
The mobilization team was composed of key officials including Mr. Francis K. Mensah, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) and Mrs. Akorfa Adu-Gamadeku, the Municipal Finance Officer (MFO).
Officers from the Revenue Department, the Physical Planning Unit, and security personnel also joined the operation to provide technical and logistical support.
