The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive has spoken on the need for Muslims in the Municipality to address the ‘violence tag’ associated with the religion. He said non-moslems pick Moslem names to perpetrate violence which gives the faith a bad name. Honourable Boye Laryea stated that Islams is not the religion for radicals and that its the mindset that is gaining roots in the country. Speaking at a day’s stakeholders engagement with imams in the Municipality,the MCE it is about time Moslems purged their ranks of Chalantans whose only aim is to give the faith a bad name. Mr Benjamin Armah, the Municipal Coordinating Director said the engagement was necessary to inform the Imams about the activities of the Assembly. He said the Assembly considers the Imams as important partners in the Municipality. The Imams asked questions ranging from security, sanitation, the upsurge of child delinquency in the Municipality among others. The engagement, organised by the Municipality’s planning Unit was attended by Imam from Akweteyman Zongo, Hong Kong Zongo, Fadama Zongo Kisseman Central Mosque, Achimota Mosque among others.
