The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Hon Boye Laryea has said, as part of government policies, the municipality is connecting pipes to market so that traders will get adequate water for their businesses.
The MCE paid a working visit to the Nii Boiman and Achimota market at Lapaz and Achimota respectively to inspect portions allocated for the construction of the pipes.
The visit was on Friday 28th August 2020.
Hon. Laryea was accompanied by the MP for Okaikwei North Hon. Fuseini Issah, staff of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly and the contractor for the projects.
Speaking to the traders Hon. Laryea said: “In Ghana, one issue with us is maintenance, what I will say is that you should maintain it well, it is government money and it is our responsibility to take good care of it, we must take care of government money for this projects, these projects are being financed by the government and you must take care of the projects”.
The President has said every money that is supposed to go to the poor will go, that is why the government is providing you with adequate water in your market. Hon. Laryea added
Hon. Laryea explained to the traders: “The aim of the President is to bring projects to the poor so that you will all see the good work the President is doing, so I will beg you again to take good care of what the municipal is doing for you, when we come back next time we want to see the project in good shape, so that when we bring the President here one day, He will see the good work we have done.”
Hon Fuseini told the traders: “We have brought you the contractor, we deliver when we promised, by next week the contractor will start working, I will plead with you that you comply with the contractor, you give him all the support he will need to construct the pipes for you, so that you will get enough water to do your work, I am hopeful in two weeks’ time the contractor will complete all the connections of pipes to the market”.
