What IS OnMA
The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) was established as part of Ghana’s decentralization policy to enhance local governance and accelerate development. Carved out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) in 2018, ONMA was formally inaugurated under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) with its administrative capital located at Tesano.
As one of the 29 Municipal and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region, ONMA operates under a Legislative Instrument (LI) to ensure efficient service delivery, urban management, and citizen participation in governance. The creation of ONMA aligns with the government’s commitment to decentralization, which seeks to improve grassroots development by restructuring larger metropolitan assemblies into smaller, more responsive administrative units.
Electoral Areas
ONMA has eleven (11) electoral areas and includes Apenkwa, Wuoyeman, Blema Gor, Olengele Koona, Gbemomo, Anorhuma, Akweteman, Nii Boiman, Achimota, Abofu and Anumle.
What does OnMA seek? It's Vision
