ROLES OF SWCD

1. (a) Facilitate community-based rehabilitation of persons with disabilities through the implementation of the 3% Common Fund allocated for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs);
   (b) Assist and facilitate provision of community care services including:
   Implementation of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme;
   • Registration of persons with disabilities;
   • Hospital welfare services;
   • Assistance to the aged; and
   • Socio-economic and emotional stability in families;
   (c) Assist to maintain specialized residential services in the districts;
   (d) Facilitate the registration and supervision of non-governmental organizations and their activities in the district;
   (e) Promote and Protect the Rights of the Child, child survival and development, and elimination of child labour.
   (f) Promote Justice Administration including;
   • Protection of the rights of juveniles
   
   (g) Child Protection and Family Welfare programme

• Formation of new groups
• Management of Child Protection case.
• Train and support women group in income generating activities e.g. soap, bead making, fascinator detergent and other handcraft) and other entrepreneurial skills
• Organize community and school sensitization program on child protection and Menstrual hygiene

               Gender equality and youth empowerment programme.

• Male and female engagement in gender equality
• Gender base violence
• Domestic violence Act (show Child protection flash cards on teenage pregnancy in schools).
• International women day.
• Gender mainstreaming and Cervical Cancer activities.

1. Dissemination of information  

• Policies and other vital information to the Community members and relay feedback to the Assembly for appropriate action
