Okaikwei North MP, MCE Support 2025 Homowo Festival.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA), Honourable Christian Tetteh Badger and Mrs. Theresa Lardi Awuni, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central have presented assorted items to chiefs in the Municipality in support of this year’s Homowo Festival.

The donation, part of an annual tradition, benefited the chiefs of Achimota, Abeka, and Akweteman, who received sacks of maize, gallons of palm oil, palm fruits, canned drinks, bottled water, and an undisclosed sum of money.

Hon. Badger explained that the visit was to fulfil tradition and deepen the relationship between the chiefs and the Assembly.

He emphasized that chiefs play a key role in local governance and must be accorded the necessary attention in order to get the full benefits of the chieftaincy institution.

During the presentation, Nii Boi IV, Chief of Abeka, advised the MCE not to involve himself in chieftaincy matters and pledged his support for Hon. Badger’s tenure.

Naa Ayele Osongor II, Abeka Manye, encouraged the MCE to continue from where his predecessor left off, urging the Assembly’s management and staff to support the MCE to succeed in his endeavours.

The Chief of Achimota, Nii Ayibonte Adams III, thanked the Assembly for the gesture and prayed for God’s blessings for its management and staff.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Akweteman Stool, the Principal Kingmaker Nii Adotei-I appealed for a new palace building.

He also expressed condolences to President John Dramani Mahama’s government over the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong on August 6, 2025.

Mrs. Theresa Lardi Awuni, assured that the area would begin to witness the positive impact of government projects.

She also urged chiefs and technocrats in the Assembly to allow politicians to focus on their political roles.

Even in the Municipal Assembly, technocrats be your technocrat and allow politicians to do our politics. It is only that that you would be able to work with everyone when political power changes she said.

She added: I am just saying because you the technocrats are here, I mean when you are doing your work, be open; what is not within your jurisdiction is not within your jurisdiction. If you prove to me that you snub me because it is politics, today I am in government and will be here for four years; my government will repeat itself again. So, ask yourself, if you were doing politics can you survive it when we start? You can’t survive it so, I plead let’s all be professionals.

The MCE was accompanied by Madam Georgina Akambasi, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Officer, as well as Assembly members, government appointees, and staff of the Assembly.
