Over one hundred staff of Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region have undergone free eye screening exercise.
The two-day exercise (July 13th and 14th 2023) organized by Fine Vision Opticals in partnership with the Human Resource Department saw staff of the various Units and Departments taking part.
Madam Sefia Salifu, the Senior Human Resource Manager of ONMA said the eye screening was very important for the Assembly and its staff.
She said it is a good practice for staff to check their eyes because sight was necessary to the activities of the staff.
Ms. Sefia indicated that the exercise was targeted at the staff in the auxiliary class who do not have money to regularly go to the hospital to see optician.
Dr. Eugene Asiedu, the Managing Optometrist said the exercise is to support the staff who by the nature of their job schedules do not have to visit the hospital.
According to him, the exercise is to bridge the gap and bring the clinic to the doorsteps of the staff.
He advised the staff to take care of their eyes.
“It’s good to take care of your eyes no matter how the situation is, you might not know what is going on in the eye” he stated.
